Founded in 1917, the Maine Music Educators Association (1917) is the oldest state music educators association in the US. As a former music educator, the MMEA is an organization close to my heart. As a music teacher in Maine, it’s hard not to be directly influenced or uplifted by the MMEA. They advocate for our craft, uplift our community, coordinate festivals and conferences, etc.

A New Look
The initial goal was to bring a modern and professional look to the MMEA, reinforce their bond with Maine universities, and highlight their people-first mentality.
Getting Editorial
With the new branding completed, the next challenge was revitalizing the MMEA publication “The Maine Motif.” This involved transitioning the publication from a shared Google Doc into a fully fleshed-out online publication.
Since the revision, The Maine Motif has seen increased submissions from out-of-state and non-board members.
Student Highlights
The concert programs for MMEA’s All-State Festivals also received a facelift. Featuring new photography and an updated brand look, the updated programs match the excellence of the student performers.
